Leaving Fable for Reedr.

Fable does not give you a way to export your own library. There is no download button and no CSV. That is the single biggest reason readers feel stuck there, and it is solvable in about five minutes with a free browser extension.

Get your library out

A third-party Chrome extension called ShelfBridge signs in to your own Fable account, reads your library and downloads it as a Goodreads-style CSV, with your books, ratings and reading dates. Reedr keeps a step-by-step guide for the whole thing.

Bring it into Reedr

Sign in, open Settings, then Import, and drop that file in. Reedr reads it like any Goodreads export, matches covers and editions, and sets aside anything ambiguous for you to confirm.

What you keep, and what you gain

• Your books, your ratings and your dates.
• Read-alongs that are spoiler-safe by construction: a note is sealed until you reach the page it was written on, enforced by the database rather than a warning label.
• A free reader stocked with classics, and your own EPUBs if you have them.
• Export any time. The door out is always open, which is rather the point.
